Community Book Group Facilitator

Do you enjoy reading books and discussing them?

Calibre Audio brings the joy of audiobooks to anyone struggling to access print. We feel passionately that a print disability or any difficulty in holding a book should not be a barrier to the pleasure and enrichment of reading. Everyone, no matter their personal social or financial circumstances, deserves to immerse themselves in a good book, and unleash the power of their imagination.

We are launching an exciting new initiative of setting up community book groups, both locally to the Calibre offices in the Buckinghamshire area and in other places round the country where there is interest.

We are looking for enthusiastic people to help organise and facilitate the first of these. The group will meet once a month, for up to an hour and a half to discuss the book they have been reading. The person specification for this role includes:

  • The ability to lead the group

  • Good listening skills

  • Skills to initiate a discussion

  • Interest in reading and discussing books

  • Reading the chosen books in advance and preparing questions if needed

  • Ensure that all of the group participate in the discussion

  • Maintaining group safety and guiding the group where necessary

Please contact Emma Scott on 01296 432339 or email volunteering@calibre.org.uk to find out more. Full training and support will be provided.
