Calibre Audio can also support adults and children living overseas who have a print disability.

Overseas Members

Calibre Audio is a charity based in the UK that also offers support for people living overseas who have a print disability. For a nominal charge of £3 per month or £30 per year, adults and children living overseas who meet our eligibility criteria can enjoy full access to the extensive Calibre collection of titles via streaming and download. From bestsellers to the classics and fiction and non-fiction, a Calibre membership opens up the world of books to those who would not otherwise be able to read.

Who is eligible

Anyone living overseas who either cannot see, read, manipulate or comprehend the text may be eligible to join.

The reasons for print disability vary but include:

  • A learning disability, such as dyslexia

  • A brain injury or cognitive impairment such as head trauma or stroke

  • A vision impairment or blindness

  • A physical dexterity problem such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Parkinson's disease, arthritis, paralysis or terminal illness

  • Early dementia

In addition to meeting the print disability criteria, for copyright reasons overseas members also need to live either in the EU or any of the countries where the Marrakesh Treaty has come into force (see below).

For a list of all the countries that have ratified the Marrakesh Treaty, go here.
