Grace volunteered for Calibre Audio for forty years and made a significant impact on our charity.
We're paying tribute to Grace Dives, who died peacefully this March. Grace started recording audiobooks for Calibre Audio in 1982. She retired in 2022, having received the Centurion and Lifetime Award for her achievements in volunteering and for her unrelenting commitment to our cause.
"Recording work was one of Mum’s greatest joys," Said Tamsin, Grace's daughter. "She completed 270 novels. She particularly enjoyed perfecting the wide range of accents required to bring a novel to life, and she narrated many of the major classics-Thomas Hardy, the Brontes, Jane Austen, Wilkie Collins and many biographies and autobiographies which were special favourites."
"A wonderful great-grandmother, grandmother, mother-in-law, wife, and mum, she lived a long life full of interests and adventure. She lives a huge hole, but of course our lives are richer and more colourful for having known her."
Grace's contribution to our charity is cause for celebration. Her dedication, marked by the Lifetime Award, enabled thousands of people who can't read printed text to experience the joy of reading. People who would have otherwise lost out on journeys across our globe and beyond to other worlds, who would've missed educational and informative books, and who would've missed the comfort and escapism only reading can bring. Our thoughts are with Grace's family.
