Web accessibility conformance statement
Calibre Audio is committed to testing and delivering all content on the website to WCAG 2.0 AA compliance where possible. The checkpoints we work to are taken from the technical standard Web Content AccessibilityGuidelines 2.0 (WCAG), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We are also a member of the DAISY consortium.
As part of our ongoing mission to increase accessibility for as many people as possible with a print disability to the joy of reading, we use the accessibility toolbar (Recite Me) on our website.
This tool allows us be accessible to the one in five people in the UK who have a print disability, including conditions like sight loss and dyslexia, in the way that suits them best.
It also meets the needs of the one in ten people in theUK who don’t speak English as their first language, by being able to translate our web content into over 100 different languages.
How to use our Accessibility toolbar?
You can open the toolbar by clicking on the White button with the figure at the top right hand side of the website.
The toolbar opens across the top of the page and displays a range of different options for customising how the website looks and how you can access the content.
How does the toolbar help me access this website?
The Toolbar helps people to access our website to do the things they want to do, like find information on how to listen to our books, our support services, give us feedback or on the odd occasion make a complaint.
The toolbar has a unique range of functions. You can use it to:
- Initiate the screen reader and have the text read aloud (including PDFs)
- Download the text as an MP3 file to play it where and when it suits you
- Change font sizes and colours, that suit your needs
- Rulers and a mask to aid reading
- Customise background colour, again to suit your needs
- Translate text into more than 100 different languages
- Access a fully integrated dictionary and thesaurus
Can I get support with the Accessibility Toolbar?
If you have any questions about the toolbar you can contact us by email at email@example.com or call us on 01296 432 339.
