An introduction from our Director of Fundraising

Published:

Hello, I’m Nila James, Director of Fundraising at Calibre Audio. I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to update you on fundraising news.

I joined the Calibre team in April, during lockdown. I bring over 20 years' experience of leading fundraising teams at various charities including RNIB, Sense, Cancer Research UK and The Wildlife Trust. I am really looking forward to using my knowledge and experience to grow fundraising income at Calibre so that we can continue to improve our service to our members and also to reach many more people who would benefit from our service.

The Coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in some way whether it’s losing a job or a loved one, or losing the freedom to go out and socialise, which I know has left many of our members feeling more isolated than ever. As with most other charities, our income was badly affected, and one of my first projects was to launch our Covid-19 fundraising appeal. I was totally blown away by the tremendous generosity that you, our members, showed in your response to our appeal. I was very humbled by the many messages of thanks for continuing our service despite the difficulties of lockdown as many of you described Calibre as a lifeline. Calibre exists to serve you, but we wouldn’t survive without your support.

So I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of everyone at Calibre to all members who have generously donated an incredible total of £122,000 plus gift aid which means we have achieved our target of £150,000. This amount would cover all the costs of running our service for a whole month, and we are so grateful for all your support.
