The Big Give Christmas Fundraising Challenge!

With Christmas and the end of 2020 now on the horizon, we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our supporters who have donated so generously this year to keep our service going through what has been a difficult year for us all.

In the run-up to Christmas we normally run our Christmas appeal, but this year we are going to do it a bit differently, instead focussing on The Big Give Christmas Challenge. This is the biggest match funding event in the UK and raises millions of pounds for charity, and we are delighted to be a part of it this year. Our goal here at Calibre is to raise £12,000 which will cover the cost of producing 24 new children's books and 24 new books for adults to add to our collection, for our members to enjoy for years to come.

We have some great titles lined up, including Tomorrow Will be A Good Day by Sir Captain Tom Moore, The Strawberry Thief by the amazing Joanne Harris (author of the magical Chocolat), and Daughters of Cornwall by Fern Britten. For the young members of our library we want to add The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher, the hilariously funny The Bolds Go Wild by Julian Clary and The Threads of Magic by Alison Croggan. The complete list of books of all 48 books is available in our advent calendar here.

Four titles we want to add to our library through our Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge takes place in the first week of December and runs from 1st December through to 8th December. Donations can only be made then and through the Big Give website, which is signposted through our main Big Give page but can also be accessed here. With thanks to Kings Access Technology and the Reed Foundation who have already pledged to match donations, the first £4,500 of donations we receive will be matched by them pound for pound.

All online donations, however large or small, will help us fill our advent calendar and our real library with some wonderful new books - the perfect present for booklovers this Christmas. Thank you for your support!
