New Books for Young People

If you love a laugh then this month we have just the thing! Two books in the Mr Majeika series and a Diary of a Wimpy Kid story!

In Mr Majeika and the School Inspector (617682) the silly schoolteacher gets himself into a pickle when he accidentally turns himself into a lobster. There are more hilarious goings on in Mr Majeika and the Internet (617687) when he manages to get the whole class trapped in the school website.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever (617691) sees Greg holed up with his family during a snowstorm, which is bad enough, but at the same time the police are trying to track him down as the prime suspect in a case of criminal damage to school property. But, guess what? He’s innocent, Well, sort of!

There’s also another exciting instalment in the Magician’s Trilogy by Jenny Nimmo: Emlyn’s Moon (617679), the follow up to The Snow Spider (615511). Young magician Gwyn and his friend Nia, with the help of Arianwen the Snow Spider, try to solve the mystery of Emlyn Llewellyn, the strange boy who claims his mother lives on the moon.

For young adults we have a deeply affecting novel, Moonrise (617670) by Sarah Crossan; Joe hasn’t seen his brother for ten years as Ed is on death row. Now that Ed’s execution date has been set Joe is determined to spend the remaining time with his brother, no matter what.
