This week here at Calibre, we have once again launched our annual appeal. It seems, perhaps, that we are always asking so we wanted to take a small moment to explain why.
You will all of course know that as a non-profit organisation we receive no government funding. It’s not just words when we state that we really do rely on the generosity of our members and supporters to help us to raise the money needed to keep the service running.
This year we are looking to raise £140,000. This sounds like a huge amount of money, but to put this in context this year we estimate it will cost us £1.5 million to provide our service to you all. This includes our aim of bringing the service to the attention of an extra 2,500 new members who we know would benefit from joining and being able to continue their love of reading through our audiobooks. That’s an average cost of £85 per member per year.
Our donation page with more details about the appeal can be found here. Some suggested donation amounts are on there, but they are just a guide and we genuinely do appreciate any amount you can give, big or small.
With the donations we receive, not only will we use them to keep our service running efficiently, but we are also aiming to add a thousand new books to our collection this year. We want to continue to bring you the best stories we can - more bestsellers, more of the classics and more of everything else in between – both fiction and non-fiction. A simple goal of a diverse collection of books, so there’s something for all our members, any time they want it. So, if that’s something you think you could support, we and all our members thank you.
